Default 46th (North Midland and West Riding) Division.
A photograph of an unknown Major in the 46th (North Midland and West Riding) Division.

I am not sure of the significance of the two horizontal bars, but will they help to identify the regiment within the Division?

The 2 red strips mean he is in the 2nd Brigade of the Dicision which should then enable you to ID his Battalion

Thank you, that was what I needed to know. Sadly, without a regimental badge being visible, I am unlikely to be able to identify him.
