Is is the result of the challenge.

On 17 September the invasion of the Netherlands began, known as Operation Market Garden in a combined land and airborne operation. The Battalion took part in the ground operation that was intended to cross through three bridges taken by airborne troops and into Germany, that would end at the furthest captured bridge at Arnhem—taken by 1st Airborne—though the operation ended in failure by 25 September.

Very well done Robin,

You've done yourself proud and are deserving of the badges that are coming your way, I hope that you enjoy owning them. You obviously appreciate the history behind them so they will be in good hands.

You have my admiration and I wish you all the very best as you continue on into the hobby.

Kind regards.

Ry

Default a badge to far.

I even used the book a bridge to far from cornelius ryan. At page 508 and 509 is a scheme of all the units that were part of market-garden.

Two actually Robin, one will be to identify which regiments they belong to, also, in some cases which rank too. The other will be to identify the two fake badges that I have included in the package.

The badges will go in the post tomorrow.

Phil

That was an easy one, I guessed the rough meaning and then confirmed with google translate.

Google translate has a nice grammar. The translation is:

Normally spoken it's nice rubbish. How do you say it translated back to english? With that spoken(i think it needs to be Best regards),

Phil.

I did it by heart.

Robin.

''normally its pretty crap, how has this translated if you say it back in english?

Best Regards

Phil''

So once again it lets me down but I think this would be down to Google, not your translation.

You do have very good English skills. I found this to be reasonably common when I stayed for a month in Hardehaven/Harderwijk, the English are quite lazy, in general, when it comes to learning languages.

I know a little German, from school.

You are right Phil,

We are quite lazy when it comes to learning languages. I spent seven years in BAOR and only managed enough German to order a beer and a gyros (kebab).

Oh and to ask the price of things:

"Was ist der sharden Johan?"

After several beers and the obligatory gyros I was still just about able to mutter the other phrase that I had learned:

"Ich bin ein unter wasser panzer farber mit zenf"

Stick those into your translator and see what comes back

Ry
