Default Need assistance to Id this sign.

This badge came in a group of items related to the campaign in Burma.

There were two formations that used the 2 Horn Rhino as their insignia. Both units also served in Burma. The East African Exp Force and the 11th East African Division. The 2 horned Rhino as depicted on the badge is found only in East Africa according to my reading. So that should be a clue.

However neither of these units used this exact design. The 11th East African Division was an oval with black and red as their colors, while the EAEF used a round patch in white with a full Rhinoceros featured in black. So no exact match but the EAEF is closest.

Thoughts and opinions are much welcomed. Thanks Jack

Mike , as always a great help. Many thanks.

Interestingly in the group in which this badge came there were a pair of Rhodesia shoulder slips. In my reading on the 11th EAD it appears there was a contingent of soldiers from Northern Rhodesia. Would the various commonwealth soldiers have worn this type of distinction while serving in the division?

Thanks
Jack

Jack,
I'm not sure, but there is at least one real expert on the WW2 Eastern African region and its soldiers on the Forum. No doubt he will spot your thread and respond. Mike

Here is the pair of Rhodesian shoulder loops that were in a group that included the 11th EAD sign posted above. Curious if these would have been worn in conjunction with the Divisional sign? Thanks Jack.
