Large silver devil??
Hi all,
Found this picture saved on my computer? Does anyone have any ideas about this badge? Who might have worn it and where? Here's hoping all the best Dan |

It is the badge for the 144th Bn Winnipeg Rifles CEF. In silver it is likely an officer's badge.

Hi bill
The badge is so large, at almost 7 cm wide. Seems far too large for a cap badge. Did the 144 have a pipe band? Sporran badge ????? All the best dan |

Dan.
The badge was sold through Bosleys auction in April this year and went for £660 if that helps. Someone on the forum will probably have the catalogue, so may have more info. Ta |

Are you sure those aren't 1/4-inch grids? - would make the badge normal cap size. Cheers, Ian.

Hi Dan,
Just took a look at my Charlton catalogue. Under the 144th Bn entry there is a note stating "Another large size badge made in silver or white metal was auctioned by Denby. This is reputed to be a Pipe Major or R.S.M. badge." The reference is bit vague but it's possible that the Bosley's badge might well be one of those. Cheers, Ian. |
