RASC KC Bullion Wire Beret Badge
Hiya all,
This arrived today, an unusual "very small" KC Officers bullion wire beret badge to the RASC. Any thoughts would be very welcome ?? Note the 10p coin for comparison (I shall bring it to Aldershot Militaria Fair on Sunday) Ken (The Fatboy) PA290011.jpg PA290009.jpg PA290008.jpg PA290004 - Copy.jpg |

Hello Ken,
Nice badge. Would it not be for a side cap? Cheers, Andy C

See !!!
The last thing i would have thought of was a sidecap Cheers Andy I thought it was a "Super rare" collar badge, worn by African Pygmies. FBK |

Yes I would say Side Cap as well as I have seen a 1918 Pattern RAOC Bullion Badge on one.
Also I have an Airborne Beret with RAOC Collar Dog in it, but never a Bullion Beret Badge till the late 60's |

Hiya Mike,
I have a "Maroon" Airborne RASC QC (EiiR) bullion beret badge obviously dates from 1953-1965 But this one above must date from c1945-1952. As I understand things, these bullion wire beret badges date from ww2 1944ish. Maroon.jpg |

The small size and dark blue backing of your badge suggests coloured field service cap rather than beret. The coloured field service cap was reintroduced in June 1937 so the badge could have been worn from then on.

That's how I got it lads, with the collar badge attached, I thought it was a bit of a bargain really, as it cost £11.00 (with the collar) !! lol
