South Alberta Regiment Badge Variations
After a successful weekend at the Calgary show i managed to add a couple SAR varieties to my collection. For use of the forum members I am going to post the varieties i have in my collection. I know of 2 others which i do not currently possess (the bullion and officers by Scully).
If anyone happens to know where i can get them at a reasonable price please let me know. I'd also appreciate if anyone knows of other variations i haven't mentioned. Cheers Chris |

Birks Variation 1
Note on the reserve. Birks is stamped upside down on the top left corner of the shield. I have two Birks examples in my collection and they both conform to this style.

William Scully Variation 2
This badge has the Scully marking written on 2 lines. "W SCULLY LTD" on the top line and "MONTR EAL" on the bottom line. I have examined 30 different Scully makred Badges and only found 2 marked in this way. Can any one tell me if this is a fairly representative finding?

Unmarked Variation 1
This badge i consider to be unmarked variation 1 it has no signs of a maker mark but has a finely detailed reverse.

Unmarked Variation 2
I consider this to be unmarked variation 2. The badge has no signs of a maker mark. The reverse detail on this badge appears to be "washed out" the reverse features have been dulled and rounded. When compared to the unmarked variation 1 the difference is quite obvious.

Chris,
Some nice badges. I have not seen the two line Scully or the Birks before, I say those varieties are more to the scarce side. My observation among my collection and any Birks marked badges I have is that the mark is usually upside down!? Not sure why that is...? Correct me if I am wrong but I don't see any die difference from the front, they all appear to be the same die/design just the back strike/marking is different?

SAR
Chris, did you get those off me at the Calgary show, you bought the Legion magazine with Currie on the front?

I did indeed get the Scully single line variety from you as well as a small pile of SAR stuff including that magazine (which i'm in search of a frame for). That large SAR patch is another really nice addition which i believe may have been the type that was sewn onto the PT sweater. You had some really nice stuff for me. Do you happen to remember where that bullion cap badge came for that i bought from you? I also got that Scully double line variety after digging though a small box of mixed badges at another booth. Great to put a face to the avatar. Cheers Chris |

Calgary finds
Some of my Calgary show finds, the 19 AD collars are different, I didnt notice them until I got home, the tail and heads are different.
The 19 Armoured car flash is a rare one, all I need is the matching staghound they wore on the arm. Mike |

Here is a neat piece, a 1967 Guidon presentation spoon. Must have been in the "hat".
