Gurkha?
I bought this recently from a respected dealer - it was listed as an officers cap badge to the 2nd Gurkhas - I bought it on spec as I wasn't convinced it was the 2nd Gurkhas. It's not listed in the Museums book on the insignia of the Regt - ( I have plenty of examples of unrecorded badges - the insignia books do not claim to be completely comprehensive) - but I'd apprecaite members comments or suggestions.
It's a lovely badge in it's own right, because of it's construction I suspect it's of of Indian manufacture - but Gurkhas? |

I thought the three feathers always meant a regiment to the Prince of Wales.

Hi ya,
There is another Indian regt that used the POW feathers but in WM with a GM crown. It is the 1st Batt 11th Sikh Rgt (King Georges Own) (Ferozepore Sikhs). Dress Regs 1931 "Indian officers & other Ranks. In silver the plumes of his royal highness the prince of wales. Feathers and scroll in silver and crown in gilt." worn on Helmet, pugri or felt hat. 2nd never had a gilt crown. nice badge but wrong Regt, regards Steve |
