Chevron
If a LAC is a Prop, then what would one chevron be in the RCAF?

Hi Ed, In my understanding, the LAC prop was a rank badge for Leading Aircraftman, equivalent to private. The next senior rank was corporal. The single airforce pattern chevron was for use as a good conduct stripe.
(Note: Apparently CBC journalists think the Canadian army has been Americanized. A couple of stories used Pvt. instead of Pte. I emailed them, and hopefully they will incorporate the proper abbreviation into their style book and reporting). |

These are the Air Force Good Conduct chevrons that I have.

Good question Ed, I've never noticed that the RCAF used good conduct badges in the same style as the army.

You didn't see the RCAF wear them very much, Of course Air crew didn't live long enough to gain them, but ground crew seem to shun them also. There was no single chevron for rank.
