This auction house will have little or no expertise in Militaria. Still, that is no excuse for offering them without getting them reviewed by an auctioneer with greater expertise. As you say, they are rubbish and should be clearly marked in the auction catalogue as copies and not original.....though I agree that the starting price indicates that they know 'there is a rabbit off!' so to speak.

I'm resurrecting this thread because, in the week a real 14th (1st Birmingham) Battalion badge sold on eBay for £170, Lockdales - who should know better - have one of the awful obvious fakes for sale, as a single lot, estimate £30-40. They REALLY should know better and it's worth a tenth that.

They also have a very very bad 18th Middlesex Regt (Public Works) cap badge for sale ,should be a real easy to spot fake even has a fake makers mark, how do they get these things so wrong. I emailed them pointing this out and had a email virtually straight back but it was just to say they don’t answer questions on that day and will get back to me, that’s 3 days agoso hopefully none of the less experienced collectors will be fooled if they are viewing this badge
