Default Silvered QVC

Hello Gents,

I thought I'd share the following badge as I'm so pleased with it.

This silvered Rifle Brigade Officer's Astrakhan Busby Horn was crying out for a crown to acompany it until very recently.

I know it should really be complimented by a Boss but the likelyhood of finding one with a silvered crown seemed remote so with the help of Dave C I have been able to accomplish the pairing as shown below.

The brass crown was an item that I picked up for a pound at the local car boot sale some time back. It seemed to have been snapped off of a badge, most likely a Glengarry that had been nailed to a board as there was as small pin hole in it and the botom edge was a bit of a mess.

I tidied up the bottom edge to the best of my abilities and then sent it off to Dave so that he could finish the job for me.

Dave has repaired the hole, fixed a loop to the back so that I could mount it and finally silver plated it for me. To say that I'm made up with it is an understatement, if you should see this Dave, thank you again!

The first image shows the badge framed in its initial newly plated condition after its return from Dave and the second image shows it after a little adjustment of the patina carried out in an effort to get it to ressemble that of the horn.

I'm pleased with the results and it represents the best value for a pound I've had in a while.

Regards to all.

Ry

Hi Dean,

It's good to hear from you and thank you for your kind comments on the display and crown.

I had been a little worried that the pairing might be mistaken as an attempt to deceive in some quarters but I'm sure most will understand that it is merely an effort to compliment the Horn for my own display purposes.

I am pleased with my efforts to induce the tarnish but the real credit must of course go to Dave and his "Alchemy"!

I've been admiring your albums lately mate, they are a pleasure and I also hope to meet you at last at Bromley next month. I'm hoping that John G will be able to accompany me on the day so it promises to be a one with a good turn out of members.

Regards

Ry

Hi Ry,

I think it fine to pair items like this and show the item as it should be. I think people get sensitive about selling such items but as long as people are up front then fine.

Hope you do make it to Bromley and I certainly owe many a beer !

Will bring para book and pocket money, cheers Dean.

Hi again Dean, I have to agree with your points and of course I'm pleased with the pairing in this case.

I'm more or less certain that I'll make it to Bromley and it will be good to see that well travelled book again.

See you on the day!

Ry
