Omani Stable Belts
I'm trying to identify some Omani stable belts in my collection. I'd appreciate it if anyone could identify the belts in the pictures below or translate the writing around the outside. The writing on the first two appears to be the same and the only difference I can see in the badges is that the first one has a belt attached to the knife and the second has a small pair of rifles below it. The writing on belts 3 and 4 is different from 1 and 2. I've identified #4 as being from their Armoured Corps but I'd still like to get a translation of the script.

The first three are non-regimental belts for HQ staff.
In date order they go: 3. Generic Sultanic Badge. Scroll reads: quwaat musallaH sultan oman: Sultan of Oman's Armed Forces. This dates post 1982 - prior to that date we had plain red belts with black leather two strap buckles 1. Army cap badge (type 1). Scroll reads jaysh malikee oman: Royal Amy of Oman. Post 1985ish when the new title and badge was intyroduced. 2. Army cap badge (type 2). Scroll as 1. above. Must date post c1995. I'm not sure when the badge changed. 4. I'd not seen this one. If it is the Armoured Regiment is provides some support to the suggestion that the Armoured Regt did not have a regimental badge and wore the generic Sultanic crest. I have an Artillery belt which is half red over blue with the unit badge in a type 4 scroll. But I can't seem to post pictures!!! ma as-salama Eddie formally ar-ra'aid abu louis, quaid al batterie at-thamina midfyeea sultan oman (Major Father of Louis, Commander of the Eighth Battery Sultan of Oman's Artillery. |

Eddie,
Thanks for that. I have several Omani belts in my collection. I've posted pictures on the stable belt site at www.stablebelts.co.uk, listed under "Other Countries". If you have a chance, I'd appreciate it if you could have a look and see if I've made any errors in identifying them. Cheers, Alan |

UAE Belt Buckles
Eddie,
I'd like to call on your Arabic skills again. I have two belts from the UAE with similar buckles. The only difference I can see is the writing along the bottom of the buckle. Can you please translate what each one says? Cheers, Alan |

I'm sure Eddie will do a better job than me, but the first looks like it's Army and the second is Police. (I think Inshaalah!)

I think it's Army Force to be exact. Eddie?

If it will help, the first belt is in the National colours: red, black, white, green, while the second belt is maroon. - Alan

Hi everyone - thank you for the vote of confidence. But remember I read Arabic like five year old!
But I make it: No 1 - Armed Forces No 2 - Police. |

Some Omani bits
Heres an Omani belt buckle (not sure for what use- parade) and some Omani SF insignia i got from a chap who had served out there.
Also have a lavender beret which has no cap badge on it, as years ago i cut it off and swapped for some WW2 german bits. Also have an airforce beret with wire badge on it. My interests however are Brit SAS insignia,so always up for exchanges. Regards JonOmani 2capbadge.jpg Omani belt buckle.jpg Omani capbadge.jpg Omani SF titles.jpg |

See here for an explanation of the cap badges: http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ead.php?t=1615
The belt buckle and shoulder titles belong to the Sultan's Special Force. |
