Default BRCS Ribbon Badge

I have picked up this little ribbon badge with a red cross on it in a small grouping of red cross items. I am not sure what it is. Can anyone advise what it is and what time period please?

Thank you,

Terry

Terry,

It is a BRCS 1939/1945 War Service Bar denoting 5 years war service.

Worn horizontally on the left forearm of the jacket only, 2" from the bottom of the cuff.

regards

Very sincere thanks Simon!!! Would it have possibly been worn by a VAD?

Terry,

No, I dont believe so.

Although VAD's were administered by the BRCS and were for all intent and purpose part of the organisation, they had there own dress code and were not wearing the multitude of badges and medals worn by the BRCS members.

regards

Thanks Simon! I was hoping it was since I picked one up, but no worry. I seem to have acquired some BRCS badges over time, without really trying to get into another organization to collect.

I know the VAD was associated with the BRCS, but like he FANY, wanted to remain a separate and independent organization. Which is probably the reason I have the BRCS items I have.
