Default Silver Vickers Armstrong ARP

Hi all could I please have your assessment of the above badge, I believe these ARP badges are unfortunately being copied, this badge I believe is for Vickers Armstrong, I hope I’m reading the Hallmark right but I get 1939, would that be right? many thanks in advance Billy

The standard ARP badges were being produced from 1937 onwards, albeit some made up to May 1937 still received the 1936 hallmark. You can read about it here:

https://www.ww2civildefence.co.uk/bl...-the-arp-badge

So 1939 could be right, but all depends on when Vickers initiated their ARP resources.

Cheers……John

Sally Bosley's sold a "ARP Vickers-Armstrong 1939 hallmarked silver Air Raid Precautions badge" :

Sally Bosleys looks to be a cleaner strike than mine! also mine has a ding! (Which I like actually because it is in a used condition! IF! it’s real?) so many thanks so far but hopefully I may get proof it’s not a copy, don’t like the fuzzy Hallmark & makers mark!

Many thanks Billy

I notice both examples have the same hinge fitting for the pin, and below which is a sub-circular mould mark also seen on both of them.
