Doug Townend
A note to Canadian members of the Forum. Doug Townend, retired RCOC officer, and long term collector dealer from the Ottawa area has been hospitalized for several days. He will be admitted to long term care pending placement in Veteran's Home in Ottawa. Our thoughts and best wishes to Doug and his family.

Thanks Bill for the information. I have learned so much and enjoyed knowing Doug over the years. His knowledge of Canadian Signals which he enjoys sharing, helped me along with my addiction .... collecting Royal Canadian Signals memorabilia also.
My thoughts and best wishes go out to Doug and family. Gerald VVV

Doug Townend
Doug and I served in Fort Chambly, 4 CIBG Germany, he in the OFP and I in Recce Sqn FGH, in the mid-1960s and reconnected many years later through a mutual interest in badge collecting. He is a fine man, very knowledgeable, and a real asset to the hobby. I hope he overcomes whatever ailment he has.

Thanks for the news. I am sorry to hear about Doug. He was a member of the Bytown Militaria Collector's Association for many years. I also used to see him at the Ottawa show. He was a great contributor to the Canuck forum as well. www.canadiansoldiers.com
As Secretary of the Association I will be sure to pass on the news at this month's meeting on Wednesday. David

Clive, although I don't know the name of the hospital in which Doug is a patient right now I'm assuming that the "long-term" veterans facility to which Bill refers is probably the Perley Veterans Hospital.
