Default 181874-81 Glengarry badge general question

Did any regiments continue to wear their numbered glengarry badges into the post-1881 era? We hear of KC badges being 'used up' by units into the 1950s and even 1960s, but did the same thing happen in the 1880s? Perhaps even as a form of protest by regiments at the loss of the old numbers? (Apologies for the double '18' in the thread title!)

The 2nd Bn KLR was in India for most of that period and still wore the 8th Foot badge. They certainly continued to wear it after the 1894 adoption of the new "cap badge" on the FSC

There were probably other units overseas that did not catch up either

Thanks for this. I guess it sets some sort of precedent for believing that other regiments were in the same situation and maintained their numbered glengarry badges.

Is there any documentation of rebadgeing ceremonies upon amalgamations in 1881?

That's a good question. I wonder what did occur regarding amalgamation formalities?
