Palestine Police
I have recently acquired a small group of photos that stumped me at first but some research identified them as Palestine Police.
The first is the most interesting. It is unclear if the uniform is khaki or blue but it has distinctive collar numerals which I have discovered are the number 7 in Eastern Arabic. This is confirmed by the second and presumably later photo of the same man in a distinctive blue police uniform with both sets of numerals visible. His hat badge, which seems to be non-voided appears to be that of the Palestine Police and the same badge appears on the centre of his belt buckle. Were white belts normal wear for this force? He wears a police duty armlet - can anyone advise me of the colours - and has the Palestine Police two line curved title on his shoulders. There is no date on the card but I would guess mid-1920s. I have also attached a scan taken from Renfrew and Cranston's. British colonial Badges of the forces badges for comparison. I will be listing these two photos on Ebay but would be happier to sell them to a forum member. PM me if interested. Jon. |

I don't think he is wearing a white belt. He appears to have a pair of white gloves tucked over his black leather belt. Dave. |
