I missed the label on this one but it is the Full Dress uniform of an officer.

There is also a famous pic of one of WS Churchill's guards wearing a Vrijwilliger uniform.
The Staatsartillerie certainly did wear a variety of uniforms.

The differnet branches of the Staatsartillerie also wore different uniforms e.g. the Vestingartillerie at Jhb Fort under Schiel wore a different style of uniform.

Brian,

thanks for sharing all the photos.

Major Albrecht was German born and I believe became an OVS National.

Iain

Glad you liked them, not often seen....if you have not been there this museum is great. Sadly a few years ago the paronoid Govt removed a lot of the weapons...what a joke claiming they were unlicenced etc. As if a handful of mausers and bayonets were a threat to the country

They also have info regards captured Boer Prisoners, interesting and free on request.

Take a trip to Kimberley and do the Bloemfontein experiece at the same time. McGregor museum in Kimberley is also nice. Lots of Battlefields in that zone.

Regards
Brian

LOL Iain,
Collectively, they did not do their job very well!
Happy Christmas to you and yours,
Regards Frank

Brian,

I believe there is an excellent ABW museum at Bloem..... one day I'll get there.
I seem to recall that at the War museum in Jo'burg they also had a problem with guns not deactivated. The mess they are making, I'm not surprised they are paranoid!

regards, Iain
