Default Large Silver Sweetheart Badges_Which Regiments?

Hi,

I would welcome your thoughts please on the two badges which I have recently picked up. They seem slightly large for a sweetheart badge but could well be a ladies jacket/coat brooch. One is marked SILVER the other has a marking (possibly 3??,) which I can’t work out. Size: approx 40mm in length. I have not seen this type of badge before and both are beautifully made. I have no idea how to date them and not sure of the regiments either.

I could well part with them in the future so will make that known now.

Many thanks for your thoughts.
Regards
Andrew

After plodding through my limited library I’m having doubts that they are meant to represent actual badges. The nearest I can come up with is 3rd Dragoon Guards or 10th (PWOR) Hussars and Queen’s Own Yorkshire Dragoons.

All thoughts welcome.

Thanks
Andrew

Hello Andrew
I would agree with your thoughts and hope others may respond with a more authoritative contribution than mine. A hallmark date may have been helpful in determining contemporary designs for the units you suggest. The QOYD design almost appears Queen Victoria's Crown in terms of being elongated rather than more round 'dome' top. I guess there is a chance that certainly the first may not be military - interesting that ICH DIEN scrolls are absent on this one, though this does not discount a military connection, as you suggest. Several Yeomanry badges also had the POW plumes design, as did 15th County of London etc.
Mike
