Default Leinsters Officer?

A nice photo of a young officer in the short-lived service dress with a closed collar with in this case the second pattern cuff rank badges.

The badges on the cap and collar appear to be those of the Prince of Wales Leinster Regiment. As Colin Churchill's book states "the shape of the motto scrolls are unusual and distinctive".

Can anyone confirm?

Jon

I too think that this is a Leinster's officer due to the distinctive scrolls at the base of the badge. I have not seen this photo before and thus cannot help positively name the officer.

I second Keith that its a super photo. The collar badges were adopted by the regiment in 1902 specifically for SD. It is interesting that the photo demonstrates too the usual dress for junior officers when in Marching Order, viz both braces of the Sam Browne.
