Default WW1 Liverpool Irish boss badge
Interesting photo of a private in the Liverpool Irish being sold on E bay, he is wearing an officers boss badge in his cap:

I have seen another picture before of this practice but it still surprises me that it could happen.

Unlikely as the tunic is very personalised with those badges so it's not a prop and he must have had a hat to wear with the uniform to travel there.

Interesting as that appears to be mid war when the other is 1918/19.

Is he in a Lpl Irish OTC ???
