Default unknown australian? shoulder titles

hi all
these titles were recently offered for sale.
they all got highish/good prices.
but what are they?
61WA, 61st west Australians? but this doesn't make sense unless ive missed something
ACME, it has been suggested Australian Corps of Military Engineers?
4th LB SAA, south Australian/African artillery and what is LB?
AVA, Australian Volunteer artillery, or it has been suggested Albany Volunteer artillery
RAN, the rear of a Royal Australian Navy however using the distinct British hex lugs. must have been made in Britain as Australian manufacturer's didn't us them?

love to hear your views
bc

Hi bc,

AVA in whitemetal is the Albany Volunteer Artillery, 1899-1903 or so.

RAN in brass was a shoulder title adopted by RAN bandsmen about March 1928 according to Kit Muster.

There might have been a 4th Light Brigade South African Artillery circa 1939-40. SAA in brass was worn by the permanent South Australian Artillery but not in this style.

ACME of course is the shoulder title worn by the Coyote in the Road Runner

Can't identify 61WA sorry.

Keith

No, we never had an Australian Corps of Military Engineers or Mechanical Engineers. Corps of Australian Engineers, with title AE. From that Boer War/sheet-metal period they were still colonial engineer units with NSWE, VE, QE and TE titles.

Can't suggest anything sorry, Arab Contingent Middle East, Artisan Company Mechanical Engineers, could be anything. I think there is/was a real ACME company or business name.

Could 4LBSAA be 'Light Battery' South Aus / African Artillery? I don't think it's an African title though as I've never seen anything like that come along but it's alway possible.
ACME - Australian / African Corps of Minstrels & Entertainers?
Cheers,
Alex
