Special Air Service Wings
A gift from a friend in Canada. They look good to me and I think they are what are known as 44 pattern?
Thanks for any input on these.

Based on information in previous threads this is a 1950s version of the 1944 pattern SAS wing. It is a lot rarer than the 1944 pattern.

Thanks, I had almost ID them correctly then. WWII pattern but post war issue, great to know. I'll have to post the rest of what he sent me.

Hello everyone,
I acquired last week-end this Special Air Service patch. Do you think it's a 1944 issue? Best regards, JM DSC_1422 - Copie.jpg DSC_1425 - Copie.jpg |

Hi JM,
I think it is post war wing the threads are slightly thicker and black rigging lines run into the canopy. Cheers JB Quote:

Thanks JB.
You're right, when I compare to your own, the yarn is thicker. But the shape of the cutting of the wool, above the wings, is curved and is closer to the first one. JM |

Just acquired this example in a very old collection - any opinions as to whether it is an early original as alluded to on the reverse?

Personally mate I'm not a fan of the wing. This rear looks too similar to the type found on fakes. Kabrit 44?

Looks very fluffy on the backing typical of iffy examples
