Default Long shot - can anyone dientify the unit?

I recognise this is a long shot, but would be grateful if anyone could help identify the unit in which this person served in WW1. The shot contains the only insignia which can be seen in the photo.

His name was Alfred Collier and he was from Harborne in Birmingham. I don't know his regimental number and there are many Alfred Colliers in the medal rolls. There is one Alfred Collier in the medal rolls from the 14th Royal Warwickshire Regiment (number 1130). Harborne was in Warwickshire and he may have joined the local regiment but I have no direct evidence.

Alfred survived the war and lived in Birmingham until his death.

Any help would be much appreciated.

James
