Sporran B company 1984 ????
Interesting sporran for sale :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Liverpool-...%257Ciid%253A1 But in 1984 when the sporran was made, the Liverpool Scottish were "V" Company ,51st Highland Volunteers. More interesting, the sporran in my collection ( pictured ) which I acquired from a member of the Liverpool Scottish Pipes and Drums has white horse hair and black tassels. I am not quite sure what is going on but a purchaser might not be getting what he thinks he is. P.B.

Sometimes the pipers sporran differs from the regimental sporran, I suppose that is not the case here?

Peter,
As it has the old King's badge on it instead of the Camerons badge it really is a bit messed up isnt it. regards

Simon,
That design of badge was readopted in 1992 when the Liverpool Scottish became V ( Liverpool Scottish ) Company, 5/8 Kings but I have not seen a sporran quite like this one in any of the Liverpool Scottish photos I have ever seen. I think the leather purse and horse hair/tassles are part of a Queens Own Highlanders sporran to which has been added the metal cantle and badge, so a made up item. Peter

I sympathise with Simon, but in my case I'm rubbish on anything (to do with badges) after 1958 - or in the case of the TA 1967; or in the case Lpl Scot 1992. (or at work, rubbish after about the 4th century AD though I pick up again in the 16th then fall asleep after the 18th !)
Anyway, that badge (not worn between 1937 to 1992) is definitely a sporran badge (or a piper's Glengarry badge) - rather than an ORs glengarry badge. |
