Every Man Remembered
Hey there guys n gals,
I have been out and bought a Passchendaele 100 Poppy 1917-2017. How lucky could I have been; Yep my Regiment With it I got a name of a soldier who had died at the battle of Passchendaele. No. Rnk, Name and Regt ? M/205140 Cpl George Battison ASC Died 10/11/1917 Commemorated at Vlamertinghe New Military Cemetary Whilst I was at Farnham Militaria Fair I came across a number of Shell Fuses for sale and decided to buy one at £20 (the rest were £45-£65) so I bought it with my intention of attaching it to a wooden plinth, with the Passchendaele Poppy pin displayed to the front of the plinth. As an addition to this I would like to ask you all, well those of you whom bought a Passchendaele Poppy, would you want to swap your "Named Soldier" with a member of the forum who would like to research a member of their favourite/specialist Regiment. I was absolutely amazed that I received a member of my Corps and Cpl George Battison will be remembered and truly honoured by myself and my guys. We had already decided to pay our respects next year at the Menin Gate in Ypres and as you can all see, he (George Battison) is buried close by there. I would be prepared to open up a new section for those of you who would be willing to swap your names for another you would appreciate more, which will be a part of your Regiment. This might also involve more than 2 parties, someone knows someone else who could swap theirs with another which would enable you to swap your name for the 3rd parties name.(if that makes sense) Anyway below are the images of my stuff PS The fuse was cheaper then the poppy !!! I am pleased that you bought a poppy, I think they are a really superb piece of jewellery, both beautifully made and presented with the attractive lacquered wooden box, I was told by a member of the RBL in Manchester, last month, that these particular poppies are actually selling at a faster rate than the Somme poppies did last year.
