Default Midland Motorcyclist Volunteer Corps lapel badge

Her is my MMVC lapel badge that I've had a couple of years. These apparently were set up in 1915.

Martyn,

What a lovely badge; one I've not seen before, or even heard of!

Have you got any other VTC badges tucked away?

Thanks, and best regards,

Tim

Many thanks Tim. I like it and I've never seen another. It looks like silver plated brass and shows wear around the lug. Most of my GOOD badges are regular regiments. This was a chance find sometime ago. The only good VTC badge I think is my Sussex on another thread. I had a craze for British badges at one time and just bought whatever came along. I didn't know much about them as I collected German at the time so bought a lot of rubbish ones as well. Luckily, most were not that expensive. I found an article on the internet about this unit who seemed to be despatch riders. There are pictures of them wearing civilian clothing and what looks like a makeshift uniform. The motor museum in Coventry said that they used to have one of these badges but it was given back to the person it was on loan from.

Here is an interesting article

Thanks for posting - not heard of this one before.
Always good to see some context such as the article you add ... useful to display this with the badge.

Thanks everyone. It is nice and I particularly like the wear at the back of the lug as it is consistent with being worn. I suppose it was probably worn in civilian clothing so as to prevent them from being attacked for not serving, and maybe as part of their early, what looks like, makeshift uniform in the article.
