Default 73rd overseas battalion black watch sweethearts a long way from home

A large 73rd overseas battalion black watch sweethearts badge A long way from home found to day in Stafford Staffordshire UK.

Raised September 1915 battle honours SOMME 1916. Ancre Heights. ANCRE 1916. ARRAS 1917. VIMY 1917. FRANCE and FLANDERS 1916-17 Disbanded April 1917.

This badge has spent the last 100 yeas in the dark probably in a draw or jewellery box.
I feel the need to let this item be seen as per usual if only this item could speak.

Enjoy

Stephen

Scarce sweetheart. The 73rd was removed from the order of battle due to reinforcement issues. Three bn's of the Canadian Black Watch, the 13th, 42nd and 73rd, could not be properly reinforced by the recruiting areas.

Hi Stephen, came very late to this thread Im afraid, but thought you might like to know your badge was made by Thomas Mott of Birmingham.
I have the same badge but in silver.
Ron.

Bill, T.L.M. Sterling.
Mott was famous for his butterfly wing jewellery.

Thanks. For a short lived Battalion, there is a lot of insignia.
