Default e bay ban !

I work for a major Charity who recently received a 30 day suspension on their e bay operation for listing a "fake" Dolce and Gabbana item. The thing is we're absolutely certain the item is genuine and listed it in good faith. However certain premium brands like Dolce and Gabbana employ third parties to trawl all listings and get them removed if the seller cannot prove that they are genuine ie. receipts from an authorised dealer. You can imagine how frustrating this is for the Charity - "guilty until proven innocent" is the stance and the punishment draconian - no appeal - you can probably see where I'm going with this but.... how different is the e bay stance when dealing with people selling clearly fake badges !! Despite complaints from forum members e bay seems quite content to let them prosper - the power of the brand and money talks !!

If the MoD had a mind to, I suppose they could interfere with the majority of UK badge (and other items) sales on eBay by claiming that their intellectual property rights had been infringed, fake badge or genuine. An interesting prospect!

Dave.
