Default Scottish Police 'SCDEA'

Hello Chaps,

Well it's not often you will see me post in this section. However a good friend of mine and serving senior Scottish Police officer very generously sent me a few pieces of insignia which I wanted to share here.

The important pice is the 'Scottish Crime And Drug Enforcement Agency'. My friend said this was a very small unit, no more that 200 or so (of which he was part of), so he believes it to be quite rare.

I'm not sure how many members collect contemporary police insignia, as it's not an area I have had much experience with but hope these might be of interest. Regardless, it is always nice to receive such a generous gift.

Cheerio,

Roy

A combined unit of some kind presumably, rather than a police "drug squad"?

Very nice Roy. The SC&DEA did not wear uniform as such. However, they utilised a "raid jacket" & stab vest and I suspect that the epaulette has originated from the vest/jacket. I've never seen one before. So, yes a seldom seen item. Of course, they no longer exist and were amalgamated into the Scottish Police when the police there were "nationalised several years ago.

Dave.

I half assumed it would be a stab vest type insignia, but didn't realise they'd become defunct with the advent of Police Scotland (perhaps there was a clue in the fact the words were in the right order?).

Thanks Gents,

Your comments make sense Dave as my friend is a senior detective, so non uniform. Me mentioned many months ago that he had a few bits he was going to send over, so I was very pleased to get these in the post the other day.

He did mentioned the unit was too small to have any other dedicated insignia, such as cap badges etc, so this was all he had.

Cheerio,

Roy

The lack of insignia figures, police, if uniformed wearing their force insignia, other, non uniformed agencies must wearing the unifying insignia on the vests.

Very nice Roy, thanks for sharing. One I'll have to keep an eye open for for my French pal.

Thans Chaps,

As mentioned, not an area I am remotely familiar with, so I'm very pleased this is of interest.

Cheerio,

Roy
