It's not Queensland Defence Forces (Pre Fed) - St John Ambulance perhaps?

Default Queensland Vol Rifles Pre 1901

I believe this badge is in fact pre-1901 Queensland Vol Rifles. There is an officer pattern buckle illustrated in Grebert's book, also this collar badge. There was also a square hat badge with the Maltese cross and crown in the centre just like the collar badge. This pattern crown was used in several Victorian period Australian badges instead of the usual QVC.
