Use of Shoulder Titles by Officers 1881 - 1920
I am trying to establish the dress on which metal shoulder titles were authorized for officers of Line Infantry in the general period 1881-1920.
The only jacket that I can find any authorization for the use of metal shoulder titles is "Uniforms for service abroad – khaki jacket all stations except Canada" South Africa added to the exception in 1904. In particular I am interested in the great coat. Is anyone able to elaborate on the use of titles on the great coat and the various undress jackets (blue patrol jacket and frock-coat) on which, to the best of my knowledge, shoulder titles were NOT worn. thanks in advance for any help. Interestingly, I've just bought some (KLR) officer's unofficial STs !
But no, having trawled through the ACD ledgers (which occasionally have officer's insignia !) I cannot recall any cases though I wasn't specifically looking for them ! |
