Looks like MT, motor transport, to me. Edwards & Langley 206.

Langley he say MG ............ MT badge, demi-official, much much later than Great War.

A new scan was finally obtained and it clearly shows a MT.

Mechanical Transport / Motor Transport. This would certainly fit with the soldier identified as ASC.

An extremely interesting very very early use [Great War] of MT/ wreath and substantially pre-dates any sighting that I have.

Badge never made it into PVCN or Clothing Regs.
