Default Fleet Air Arm?

Part of my Captain Wantnot collection, so I want to flog it once I know what it is for sure. I've been told this is a Canadian made Fleet Air Arm pilot's wing. Heavy black woven fabric backing, good and puffy -- about 4 mm thick -- and it does appear to have some thread remnants but I can't tell if it is from being sewn on a uniform or from the front embroidery. Could anyone date this for me? Thanks.
