Default Modern Jersey Field Sqn Cap Badge Manufacturer

Hi Guys,

The modern officers badges are marked:

Milice Rouoyale De jerri

Can anyone throw some light on this particular badge maker - I've tried the interweb but no joy.

Regards,

Chris

Chris, I cannot be totally sure of this but I think it is a local jeweller on Jersey who was commissioned to make these as there was only a small run of officer badges made and they all have a serial number on the rear.
Norman Wood (sarawak@jerseymilitia.co.uk ) would be the man to ask. I believe he is a member.
I have 2 badges, serial No MCE 038 & XXX. The 1st for a Squadron officer and the 2nd for collectors.
As I said a very small batch was made.
The currant OR's badge is made by London Badge & Button Co Ltd in new metal.

Should that be a makers mark?

To me it is the (french inspired) local language name of Royal Jersey Militia".
Thus when it is a makers mark the Militia itself makes them.

Milice Rouoyale De jerri = ROYAL MILITIA OF JERSEY ?

That could well be the answer - Commissioned by the Squadron themselves.
