Hi all.
I'm certain the red fouled anchor on blue background is the Orkney & Shetland Defences (OSDef) formation badge. Embroidered felt, no edging. The IWM thinks so too: http://iwmcollections.org.uk/collect...bject/30072458 I think it adopted by local TA post-war but not 100% sure..... One of the circular ones has just appeared on eBay describing itself as: "430 Coast Regiment R.A.(Orkney & Zetland) (TA) Formation Sign Badge" |

430 Coast Regt RA(TA)
The sign of 430 Coast Regt RA(TA) should be about 2/3 the size of OSDEF; the anchor embroidered on a disc c 40mm diameter. It was worn from 1947 - 1956.

A Coy, 2/51 Highland
This variant was worn in the late 1980s by A Coy, 2/51 Highland. HQ 2/51 Highland was in Elgin. I believe that A Coy was based in Kirkwall, Orkney. Diameter is 43 mm.

This one believed to be worn by Orkney and Shetland Army Cadet Force. The second is a modern/current version with merrowed edge.
