Default The Last Post BBC

Hi All,

not sure if you've been watching the series but pretty good. They wear an RMP cap badge with the letters ' RMP ' . can anyone advise the type of badge this is, as it is different to the Royal Military Police badges I have seen ie with E11R over scroll with Royal Military Police ...

Cheers,

Mark

The subject has been discussed previously in another thread. The badge is intended to look VERY different to the actual badge of the Royal Military Police.

Potentially the sort of programme you hope might be interesting, having seen the second episode, the whole, intended or not, seems very different to reality.

Did they also intend to have:

officers and men in the open without headdress [and I am not thinking about sunstroke either]?,
officers not returning salutes?
absurd captain's wife vs Lt's wife "keep her at arms length" edict by the Captain?
Absurdly casual men/officer relationships?

I could go on ...............

The SAS taking non members on a mission as a mark of respect !!!!!!!!!!

You wonder who ( if they had any ) the historic/ military advisers were.

I thought I could remember reading somewhere it was an ex-para who was doing it, but a quick google found at least one of the advisors:

These shows are not made for 'enthusiasts' like us. Military accuracy takes a back seat to the drama helped with a dollop of whatever not so subtle social or PC message the producer/director wants to convey. The wives hierarchy thing is laughable (as is the SAS memorial patrol-really!!?)but I am sure the producer is trying to make some cack handed message about the military class system.

I was under the impression that such series were meant to raise our blood pressures and reach for another bottle or two.

My problem is that my wife likes Last Post, and the TV is in the most comfortable room ...... with a nice warm fire!

I wouldn't mind one of those badges, just to have a look at it. I suspect they are made out of resin or plastic.

The scene I disliked the most. The boy getting shot in the head, diagonally downwards, and missing his skull completely.....followed by the casual swapping of a cap and the officer having no idea at all that it was not his own, after a slight push on the inside to make it fit.

I also disliked the casual attitude of the SAS to the buildings search and that they just stood around getting shot or ran off like scared children.

I suppose that if you watch it as a piece of fictional drama then you may well enjoy it,but if you are expecting a Docudrama, you may well be disappointed.

I cant watch it anymore, makes my p*ss boil. Civy land rovers with jerry cans to hide the head lamps and fake ones in the grills, Electric fan visable behind the grill and dont start me on the webbing or SLRs with the plastic butt and stock painted to look like wood!!!
Think the advisors were having a good laugh.
