Default Rising Sun cap or collar

Hi All Down Over,

I bought this rather nice Rising Sun badge as a cap badge but suspect from the size it's a collar; can you advise? Seems to be bronze?

Hello Iain

During WW1 Australian Imperial Force soldiers wore the larger Rising Sun badge on their slouch hats, however when wearing the peaked caps I think you will find most of the cap badges were the same size as the collar badge so technically you do have a cap badge.

Hello Tim,

I was actually looking for one to put on a slouch hat that was from Tobruk so the size would be useful, thanks

4cm are collar and 6cm are hat badge and for a slouch hat larger badge required.

I have 2 here, one luged, one slidered

The lugged one is marked "Stokes" and the other unmarked.

The lugged is 61.25mm x 44.50mm, 13.1 grams;

slidered: 61.50mm x 43.50mm, 13.6 grams

Cheers, Tim

I am fairly certain the slidered versions as British made in WWI.
