Default Scottish Horse

This little badge turned up with some bits from an old estate. It looks to be modelled on the badges shown in Kipling and King as 1387 & 1388, but obviously smaller ( 35mm X 25mm). The badges were approved after 1906. Can anybody tell me when they were worn ?
