106th OK ?
Hi All,
looking for opinions on this recently purchased 106th button. I am concerned that the button looks brand new ..lettering is weak to the back and shank just looks poorly made/attached ? Are such buttons copied ? Seems like a lot of work for little reward .. Cheers in advance, Mark |

Hello Mark
I would say your button is fine, I would be more than happy with it. Bear in mind that it is a good quality officer's button and these do last well as long as they are not abused! I have quite a few that look as if they were made last week and I have owned them for the last 40 years! There are reproduction buttons about (the 1970s 'Gaunt London' blue backs as they are known being some of the best known and best quality) but, by and large, the reproductions are easy to distinguish from the genuine article. Most of those made for re-enactment groups etc just do not match the quality, look or feel of the real thing. Roger |
