Hi Roy.......

Your badge in the upper right hand corner.....

Here is the official badge worn as a cap badge by the DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE'S OWN 13th IMPERIAL YOMANRY......

I have only ever seen 2 of these, one I have, and one that sold on ebay in May 2009......

Hi Mike,

Many thanks for sharing that - what a beauty.

The badge I have (top left as you look at it) is actually The 13th (Shropshire) Company, 5th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry.

Cheerio,

Roy

Hi Roy, the interesting thing is the Canadian Scouts badge you have. It is rare and unusual as it is listed as a South African unit. Would love to get my hands on one. Have fun. Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for that. Yes an interesting badge and unit, as you say; raised in South Africa and initially from Canadian volunteers. I don't recall seeing another one of these, so presume they are quite scarce. Fortunately I was able to trade this beauty with a good friend. Another pic attached for interest.

Cheerio,

Roy

The Canadian Scouts were a Class C SAMIF regiment, raised for general service in South Africa on the 18th of January 1901.
