A BLACK DIAMOND ON A OFFICERS SERVICE DRESS JACKET
HI Chaps
I picked this up last week a 1941 dated officers service dress tunic to captain in the army service corps eastern command patches with a black large diamond to the left arm below the eastern command formation patch I hit a brick wall with this one any ideas? Steve

Wasn't there a WWI practise of wearing a black diamond on the sleeve as a sign of mourning.

I have a similar diamond recorded on BD as per the attached.
I think it's a mourning symbol. I know of no regimental flash similar to that which is the other option - although not often worn on SD. Jon |
