Brian, the owner's son apparently has a photograph of his father wearing the uniform.

I am still trying to contact him to get a copy.

This picture was from an Opening of Parliament in the 1930s.

Seated - Maj Gen AJE Brink (CGS)
Standing, fltr: Unknown SAAF officer, CW Meredith, GE Brink.

Meredith was a Staff Officer at Cape Command in the 1930s. Later as Air Vice Marshal Sir Charles he commanded Rhodesian Air Training Group. George Brink was Officer Commanding Cape Command in the early 1930s and went on to many things including a stint as D Mil Ops & Trg at the start of WWII, GOC 1 SA Division and retired as Dir-Gen Demobilisation with rank of Lt Gen.

My interpretation of my fragments of the 1933 Dress Regulations are that these gentlemen are wearing "Full Dress - Review Order" while the chap above with white cap cover is wearing "Full Dress - Modified"

See the link - Diving Eagle SAAF Finial - and you may be on the right track as to what was worn on the helmet perhaps?

Just a Phenomenal testament to the splendor that adorned our service men who defended our lands in the west when we actually had unequivocal values and standards which defined a nation's unity and identity. The resulting focus and effort put into materializing in embroidered excellence, the honor held by these men in their efforts to defend the family, national identity and homeland was evident and clearly passed down through relational teaching in apprenticeship. Thanks so much for sharing! Magnificent.
