Default Suggested reference books or sites for these "sweetheart" items?

I have a very small collection of tiny sweetheart items (some of which I am not sure if they are "sweetheart" related), which I want to try to find out more about them, such as who made them and when they were made etc. I tried internet search including going to some of the dealers sites but the info is rather limited.

If you know something about these items, please very kindly let me know (other than which regiments they belong to...).

Also, I wonder if it is worth getting the three volumes Military Sweetheart Jewellery by Pamela Caunt? The few sample pages I have seen only show pictures. I tend to like having my books with words...(and pictures).

As always thanks.

Hello

I would certainly recommend the three books by Pamela Caunt.

Assuming they are still readily available, they are very reasonably priced and do contain a lot of useful information. The sweethearts are all illustrated in colour and there is a descriptive text giving more details of each badge and of that category badge - ie hollow silver badges, mottoes, mother-of-pearl and so on.

There are some period adverts (always a nice touch) and a list of makers and their marks. About 48 pages in all and hundreds of items illustrated.

Provided you can pick them up at a reasonable price you can't go far wrong.

Hopefully some other member will be able to add to the book list!

Regards
Roger

My Pamela Caunt Military Sweethearts book has 48 pages, 29 of them are words.
