British 1943 SAS beret on Ebay
https://m.ebay.ie/itm/WW2-BRITISH-SA...anner=1&_rdt=1
Item number 232770218509 I can’t believe people are bidding on this one alarm bells ringing on all sides. In ww2 Kangol did not have plastic diamond, Kangol did not even produce produce sand sas berets in ww2, badge is a common fake, wd stamp is mint compared to rest beret. It appears makers mark has been messed with how does that fade under the plastic? Weave is not like ww2 kangol berets...etc! Cheers JB Last edited by HamandJam; 18-05-18 at 12:01 PM. |

JB - As you say a very mixed up piece - why do people buy things without doing research?
And why do people sell them without doing homework? Mike |

Sellers not doing homework? I feel that's sometimes true but that it's often the case they know exactly what they're misrepresenting.

Also note his post-war green beret with fake date stamp on offer.

Wasn't it previously worked out that vongold and plumcat are one and the same ebay identities? They are both right into faked headgear.

No, plumcat66 is Michael Kittridge from Steyning. Vongold, jobrown1001 and 1967goldie are father and son James and Alan Goldsmith from Stanstead.

Thanks Luc for putting real names on these vendors. I would say plumcat66 is notorious for listing grossly faked berets. I remember one in particular which was discussed on this forum http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ad.php?t=64823
I wish we could report these vendors to EBay. At least it should now be well known within the collectors community. Cheers Pierre |
