Default Today is Anzac Day - 25th April 2017

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Lest We Forget

An "ANZAC song", it may not be to everyone's taste but I feel it's appropriate:

I've "always" liked the Bogle song, also Red Gums "A Walk in the Green" ( I like this version of the video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1gmgwx77osw )
Luke O'Sheas "Three Brothers" makes a point, if you forgive the limited budget video.

And then there's Cold Chisel's Khe San.......

Lest We Forget.

We had a wet dawn service and at 10.40 am we had a RAAF FLY-PAST, over The Cenotaph at Portarlington.

Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep

By Mary Elizabeth Frye

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

There was a Dawn Service this morning at Hyde Park Corner, London:

There is usually also a service at Harefield Hospital. This is from a couple of years ago. Over 100 Australians are buried in the local cemetery.

Harefield House Hospital was (No. 1 Australian Auxilliary Hospital) during WW1:

My maternal great uncle emigrated before WW1 and was in the AIF.
