Thanks for your comment Luke, I think the left loop has been repaired at some stage, possibly by the original wearer many years ago maybe as a strengthener or am I being fussy?

I’d need to see a picture of the join to be 100% sure but from the colour it appears more to be a messy braze job than solder.
