Worn by Russian police - a cap given to me by a Russian colleague in 2000.

Upper part of the cap badge for the Russian Federation (Armed) Forces circa 1995.

Is the cap I've shown army rather than police? I've never really thought about it, a Russian police colonel gave it to me (in a traffic police carrier bag), I brought it home & gave it to one of the kids. I thought the Russian police badge was a spread winged eagle. was the spread wing introduced about 2000?

The spread wings version is circa 1998. The Russian Federation (Armed) Forces includes everyone.

The lower part on your cap indicates Police (Militia).

Ta, I had an idea that the spread wing started appearing about 1999-2000.
I was given one of those badges ( by yet another police colonel ) at that time.
