Default Bombay Bowler and Chindit's badge

Ermmm!

I am not sure that any Chindit would have worn his formation sign on a Bombay Bowler as there were largely obsolete by the time the Badge was authorised.

There was one member of the Chindits who insisted on wearing one but his pith helmet was found amongst the wreckage of his crashed aircraft.

A Wolseley rather than a Bombay Bowler, but I'm just being picky.
Having looked at other headgear that the sellers offering - the WWII Commando beret with post war traits (and is it rifle green rather than Commando green?), the WWI Coldstream cap that looks like it's been used as a fire pit and has a plastic chinstrap?

I had thought that 'Bombay Bowler' was a slang term for all colonial type pith helmets, it actually refers to a specific type with a flatter top than Wolseley.

As well as their books there are some good online articles by Peter Sucui and Stuart Bates re. Bombay Bowlers and other sun helmets.
