Retrieved from a Maltese field. A Commonwealth of Australia 1914 halfpenny, in dire condition. I like to think of it as being an evident relic from one of the 20,000 Gallipoli Anzacs who were cared for in Malta (along with vast numbers of other Allied wounded). Somehow, its ravaged condition reflects upon the terrible wounds and sicknesses sustained during the Gallipoli campaign.
