3 SAS
I believe that this is a member of 3 (French) SAS on Operation Harrods in Central France in Aug 44. Does any SF collector have an example of this shoulder title?

It may be older than that, perhaps from around when the 1st Compagnie d'Infanterie de l'Air was attached to the SAS, but prior to the formation of the SAS brigade.
It would explain the French air force side cap worn by the man on the left (replaced by the black beret in 1943) and simple early Lieutenant's rank slip on. |
